When we first began incorporating our lavender essential oil into hand-made candles, we limited in our choices of raw materials and were obliged to use the less desirable petroleum-based candle wax used by most candle makers. 

Finding that the delicate scent of lavender was too readily diminished by that of burning petroleum wax, we soon moved to the far “greener” soy wax which burned far longer and cleaner — attributes welcomed by the many who use candles in an aromatherapy environment.

Soy wax however does not lend itself as well to interestingly designed surfaces that are desirable for decorative purposes.  Wanting to desist from using petroleum completely, after considerable research, we found that palm wax offered us the attributes we were seeking for creating interesting and amorphous surface textures and appearances.
