Pelindaba's Lavender Algae Inhibitor™ is based on research conducted by the Center for Aquatic Plant Management in England. Completely organic in its formulation, the Algae Inhibitor will not harm other pond vegetation or fish.
The combination of barley straw and lavender stalks will control algae in bodies of water ranging from small garden ponds to large reservoirs. It does not kill algae already present, instead it prevents the growth of new algal cells. Currently Washington Water Services uses our Lavender Algae Inhibitors™ to control algae in the Rosario Reservoir on Orcas Island, WA. We also use them to great success in our pond at the Farm.
Directions for use: Suspend in upper levels of pond water, preferably near the point of maximum water movement or inflow. A water bottle tied to the bale and filled with water will act as a weight until the bale becomes water-logged, then empty the water bottle and use a float. Do not let the Algae Inhibitor™ sink. Should be replaced twice a year, in spring and fall, for optimum efficacy. Download additional Lavender Algae Inhibitor™ product details and use instructions.
Our small Lavender Algae Inhibitor™ will be effective in bodies of water up to 400 sq ft surface area. More than one is usually required where water is still and in direct sunlight as still, warm water promotes algae growth.

"We Care for Quality”™ says it all
– quality without compromise in everything we do is
our superordinate mantra.
We achieve this by being one of the very few lavender operations to do everything “in-house” — from farming to essential oil distillation to product handcrafting and distribution.
We use only our own organic lavender raw materials from our own fields on San Juan Island, Washington.
We handcraft all our own products right on the farm, and then subject them all to four separate levels of quality control.
We make a point of avoiding the use of any harsh chemical preservatives and not doing any animal testing.
Providing reusable and recyclable packaging wherever possible is just one of the many expressions of sustainability as a core value throughout our operations.
