"My subjects are influenced by my connection to nature, and the enchantment of living on San Juan Island in the Salish Sea. The bee and lavender imagery is a particularly important subject for me as I advocate for the plight of bees in their survival. Life on an island with a lavender farm like Pelindaba is the perfect place for me to explore this subject and I have spent many hours in the fields capturing their animated social lives among the gorgeous lavender."
