We’re growing significantly at Pelindaba Lavender in all facets of our operation. From production, where we handcraft our expansive line of lavender products, to operations, where we handle everything necessary to keep the world well-stocked in lavender, and retail, where we host visitors to a truly remarkable lavender experience.

There are a variety of unique opportunities available at our San Juan Island farm (located in Washington State). These specific opportunities are detailed below. Retail Sales & Specialty Destination Host

Reports to: Product Gallery Manager and Director of Retail
Classification: Part-time / Seasonal or Year-round depending on location
Location: Pelindaba Lavender, San Juan Island, Washington – Friday Harbor Product Gallery and or Gatehouse Farm Store
Compensation: $16-$20/hr commensurate with experience. Additional compensation opportunities.

Summary


An engaging and public-facing opportunity to join the retail team of our rapidly expanding multi-faceted lavender-based (ad)venture, now entering its third decade of continuous growth.

We are seeking outgoing and welcoming individuals who are adept at graciously and professionally interacting with the public. This role is involved in all aspects of hosting visitors at our retail outlets and ensuring they have a truly remarkable and memorable experience.

At our farm’s Visitor Center and our product gallery located in Friday Harbor, duties can include hosting and educating visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, actively selling our handcrafted lavender products, maintaining organization and general operations standards as well as cleaning tasks.

Our retail team members perform a wide variety of tasks within their positions. They are often cross trained between departments and always willing to help with the next task.

Operations Assistant


Reports to: Operations Logistics

Classification: Full-time or Part-time
Location: Pelindaba Lavender, San Juan Island, Washington

Compensation: $16 - $18/hr Commensurate with experience


Summary

A hands-on and diverse opportunity to join the operations team of our rapidly expanding multi-faceted lavender-based (ad)venture, now entering its third decade of continuous growth.


We are seeking detail-oriented individuals with a keen interest in work that is varied, fast paced and physical to support our growing operations. This role is involved in all aspects of ensuring the consistent quality and supply of our handcrafted lavender products to the world — from large store orders to individual consumer orders.

At our farm’s operation center, duties can include finished product review, packing product cases, moving inventory, recording production run data, receiving, and printing new orders, pulling and packing orders and responding to inquiries from other departments as well as cleaning tasks.

Some projects are completed together as a team. Other projects include independent repetitive tasks — record keeping, case packing, order pulling, packing and labeling, etc. — where you can enjoy a book on tape or music with headphones on.


This is an ideal position for an enthusiastic, highly focused, detail-oriented individual who prefers to not sit at a desk and enjoys working with their hands on a variety of tasks throughout the workday.
Our operations team members are cross trained between departments, regularly participant in a variety of activities and departments and always willing to help with the next task.

Someone who meets each day with a positive attitude and a high degree of flexibility, values a strong work ethic and takes pride in what is done and how it is done will thrive in this position.


The typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Some weekend shifts and opportunities for extra hours during the peak blooming and holiday seasons are often available.

o Shipping, fulfillment or warehouse experience

o Proficiency following written instructions and procedures

o Maintaining consistency and speed when performing repetitive tasks is a must

o Aptitude for fast-paced, frequently changing tasks

o Focus on quality control and great attention to detail in all tasks is essential

o Proficiency with standard administrative computer applications (eg MS Word and Exel) and comfort with all forms of electronic communications (Email, Skype, Zoom, etc.)

o Ability to stand for 90% of the workday, as well as bend, stoop, kneel and reach

o Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs without difficulty and 60 lbs with assistance
